Interviewing financial advisers

Once you've identified the kind of adviser you're looking for and created a list of potential candidates, you're ready to start interviewing. Make sure you know what you want to find out before the interview starts, and be sure you understand the answers you receive.

Here are some basic questions you might want to include in each interview:
1. What are your ideas about how someone like me should be investing?
2. What types of investments do you sell the most?
3. How will you help me plan for my financial goals, such as retirement or sending my children to college?
4. How will you keep me up to date on my investments?
5. How often will you review my plan?
6. What types of investments do you sell the most?
7. What continuing services will I get and how much can I expect to pay each year?
8. Do you have clients who would agree to be references?
