Updating your estate plan

After you’ve drafted and executed a will, there may come a time when you want or need to make changes to it. For instance, you’ll probably want to reconsider what your will provides after an important life event, such as a marriage, divorce, the death of a beneficiary, or the birth or adoption of a child. Neglecting to update your estate plan, including your will, after a major change in your life can have serious negative consequences for your loved ones if you die.

In fact, whenever a major change occurs in your life, it’s a good idea to sit down with your attorney and review your estate plan from top to bottom.
