Types of funds

There are several types of funds with different strategies and geographical concentrations, from multinational global funds to specific country funds. So whatever your investment strategy, you should be able to find the fund that can help you meet your investment goals.

The funds are generally categorized into four main types:
Global funds hold investments around the world including the U.S.
International funds hold investments in companies based outside the U.S.
Regional funds concentrate on investments from a particular geographical region, such as Latin America
Country funds concentrate on investments from a single country

Beyond these geographical divisions, funds also differ in strategy and objective, such as those focused on growth, value, small or mid-sized companies, or fixed-income investments. There are also funds that focus on either emerging or developed markets. You'll find all the information on a fund's strategy by reading its prospectus.
